Stuff wot I do
Work (alternate title: the closest you’ll get to a resume)
I currently work at Netflix as a Software Engineer in the Games Engineering organization. This means a couple of things:
- Yes, Netflix has games!
- I spend my days building tools to support game engines on our cloud games platform, mostly focusing on helping Unreal and Unity game devs develop and ship their games efficiently on our platform.
Cool recent shit I’ve done
- technical direction for World of Peppa Pig, launched on Netflix in May of 2025
- ran an internal game jam that resulted in 6 games in 3 days(!)
- a whack-ton of contributions to our games-for-TV effort. This is basically running games in the cloud and streaming them to your TV; I helped build out the publishing pipeline, onboard early developers, and give feedback on our SDK.
- Helping make Unreal Engine a first-class citizen on our platform
Other stuff I’ve done
- Health insurance claim analytics at Nuna Health
- F2P games, developer experience, and geospatial tech at Niantic (RIP)
- Platform eng at Heroku/Salesforce
- Kubernetes when it was new at Viasat
Reach out if…
you need some help! I believe strongly in the power of labor to organize, even in the absence of a formal union; this manifests in our line of work as providing escape hatches to folks in shitty situations. If you’re ever looking for a way out of a bad job and need a referral, feel free to contact me at galbacarys [ at ] netflix [ dawt ] com. I have a pretty big network of game industry, communications, defense, and health technologies folks, and I’m always happy to help others find a safe place to land.
Don’t reach out if…
you’re a recruiter. Sorry, I’m that asshole that finds all their gigs these days through connections rather than through recruiters. If you absolutely must reach out, keep the following in mind:
- I only work remote in the Eastern Time Zone. I will not move for any job.
- I am interested in the games industry and…not much else these days.
- I only work on stuff I’m interested in.
